About the Museum

The Central Kansas Flywheels Yesteryear Museum was established in 1980 by a group of individuals with a rich agricultural background. The mission of the Museum was simple, to “Acquire, Preserve and Restore” agricultural machinery and implements unique to the Great Plains region.

The Museum is now in its 40th year of operation and has expanded beyond the original intent. We represent what it was like for the rural population to create a life for themselves. Along with farming implements, you will view other items used on a daily basis from all aspects of life in an agricultural setting.

A unique feature to the Museum is that most everything is displayed for our visitors to interact with. This differs from the static and protected displays that you find at other museums. We find this helps in the educational process whereas people can appreciate artifacts that can be touched and felt as their history is explained.

The goal of any museum is to tell a story. Our story is of the early settlers of the Midwest who wrested from the land not only a means of existence, but the ability to improvise and improve upon their existing conditions and advance their quality of life.
